In this week’s edition of the IR Update, we had the privilege of hosting Enrique Gonzalez, Vice President of Investor Relations at COX Energy. During the interview, Enrique provided valuable insights into his extensive 13-year career in the Investor Relations field, highlighting his involvement with highly successful companies. His current role at COX Energy, a company focused on renewable energy project operations, particularly stands out, as it weathered an IPO during the peak of the pandemic.
Enrique talked about the evolving landscape of the capital markets in Mexico over the last half-decade. Regrettably, there has been a noticeable absence of new IPOs within Mexico in recent years, coupled with certain instances of delistings. According to Enrique, this phenomenon is attributed to a range of factors, although a challenging valuation environment remains a significant influence.
The conversation also touched upon the Mexican Institute for Investor Relations (INARI). Enrique detailed how INARI was conceived as a platform to enhance networking opportunities within the investor relations realm in Mexico. The institute fosters the sharing of best practices and strives to elevate investor relations activities to a higher level.
As the interview concluded, Enrique emphasized the need for strategic initiatives to help investor relations professionals in Mexico forward. These initiatives encompass the creation of a knowledge-sharing platform and tools aimed at assisting smaller companies in navigating the market’s macroeconomic dynamics.
